Testimonials

I’ve written more than 20 songs over the past year working with Laura. Aside from the nuts and bolts of organizing my work (priceless!) she has helped me learn — and continually practice — staying out of my own way, how to be brave when creating, and most importantly that there is no shortage of creative power that I can leverage if I put in the work. I am forever grateful for the time she’s spent helping me with this – it has literally changed my life.
— Gabe Blair, Computer Engineer and Songwriter, Portland, OR
Laura offers me a safe space and gentle guidance to share my music. Her brilliance as an artist shines through in her teaching. While helping me expand creatively she also offers a foolproof way to organize and manage all the bits and pieces that go into songwriting. She gives me the tools to reach my goals and the confidence to keep creating. I highly recommend her to anyone on an artistic journey.
— Elizabeth Gross, Xtabay Boutique Proprietress and Songwriter, Portland, OR
There is so much to learn from Laura! She’s figured out a lot of things connected to being an independent songwriter – artistically, philosophically and business-wise. Talking to her about my songs is encouraging, eye-opening and inspiring as well as helpful with pushing my music to its full potential. I highly recommend taking lessons with her.
— Charlotte Greve, Saxophonist, Composer, Improviser, Songwriter, Brooklyn, NY

A Word from Me

I come from a long line of teachers. I love sharing what I’ve learned ‘in the trenches’ of being a working musician for three decades. My goal is to encourage people of all artistic backgrounds to blossom creatively. I provide guidance, a safe space and organizational tools to help people stay accountable, push through (often self-made) blocks and realize their creative visions. I believe that creativity is a river that anyone can step into – a river that never stops flowing.
— Laura Veirs, Portland, OR

Bio

Although she’s known around the world as a performing songwriter, Laura Veirs has been teaching music on-and-off since her mid-20s. She’s taught private lessons at home and group workshops through Stanford University’s Continuing Education Program, at Reed College, Carleton College, the University of Washington, the online School of Song and she has an ongoing teaching residency at Rancho La Puerta in Mexico. She’s also a painter and a single mom of two.

Cancellation Policy

Lessons are pre-paid. Lessons can be canceled with 48-hour notice for a full refund. If you don’t show up for the Zoom session after 10 minutes it’s considered a no-show and I cancel the session. The end time of the lesson stays the same regardless of whether you show up 5 minutes late, etc. Thanks for understanding.
