Laura’s Blog Update No. 7

Bristol. The show in Leamington was FREEZING! The heat was broken, the room was huge and painted blue, and even hanging out in Tammy Wynette’s old trailer in the green room (cool!) couldn’t warm us up.  Nelson invited a cute waitress to the show but she couldn’t come because she was working.  He valiantly tried to give her our rider’s roses but the restaurant was closed by the time he got there. :(

We played on an old boat in Bristol (also freezing — who’s idea was it to tour in Europe in the winter?), and the crowd there bumped Oxford out of first place as “Best Ooher-Ahhers” thus far. Despite the cold, spirits in the group are good.

    Hi all.
Great show in Bristol. Yes it was cold there. Soon warmed up when the crown closed in when Nelson started. Nice set. Eric’s set was also good. Thank both for getting us to sing along.

Laura anfd The hall of Flames excelled yet again. Last saw Laura in Cardiff’s The Point, backed with Clyde. That night she was magic. The band added a new dimension. Alex’s Viola playing gave it a more haunting, spiritual sound. Rapture was truly Rapturous. Great new songs too. Carol Kaye, the start song, Sun Is King and the title track July Flame stood out for me. As always, To The Country and Cast A Hook were welcomed with smiles. Glad the Ohh Ahhs, on To the Country went better than other gigs. The cold helped the sing along

I left Bristol a happy man travelling back to Cardiff

Hope the rest of the tour goes well.
Come back as soon as you can.

    Good news for Laura.

Asked Radio Caroline to feature your album and they have been playing tracks especially Wide Eyed, Legless. Sound great on the radio.

Loved Monday night at the Thekla, Bristol, Laura – thank you. Great too to see Eric and Nelson in full voice, although we slightly missed Karl and Tucker from your previous visits :-) We realised that we’ve seen no less than five of your shows in Bristol & Bath over the last few years – fab to see the changes of pace and colour. x. My husband Ian loved his Old Believers t-shirt and I will also cherishing mine, pale blue – horse-tastic. Good luck with everything over the next few months and thanks again for making the trip with the little one in tow! Andrea.

The Leamington Spa show was awesome, but it was pretty cold. But didn’t really notice once you were on as enjoyed the show so much. Love the new album too.

hey laura, loved the gig at Bristol Thekla. Went with my girlfriend and stood right at your feet and cheekily took your set list which you kindly signed for me after. what a great gig it was, and loving the new album.

Also must mention how good signal flare is by eric (cataldo). We’ve been singing this album to death since buying it – what a great support act and member of your band.

    great night all round!

I love your sounds… it gets my morning start off just right and in love with it all.

Perhaps Nelson can give me the flowers? I would like that.
