Laura’s Blog Update No. 6

Banbury. The Oxford crowd was the rowdiest so far, with the most enthusiastic “Ooher/aahers” on “To the Country.” A nice day off in Banbury yesterday — I spent some time meditating in a church on squirmy “Junior”.  It is so bizarre that two cells meet and start to divide and make bones and lungs and muscle and teeth and a heart and brains and a personality and soul and everything else.  A pleasant walk along the canal today, a sunny reprieve, and a dish at the coffee shop called “Spotted Dick Winter Pudding.” ???

Spotted dick is quite a traditional english pub & the subject of many a playground joke! It is lovely with custard – honest!

Hope the tour is going well!

Saw you sitting in a Thai restaurant on the Cowley Road before the show and wished I had gone straight in to tell you how much I love your music. Missed the chance. Turned out, by the time the show was over, that your music is a 1000 times richer than I knew. The show was really wonderful – just the few of you making so much music, and your singing so clear and strong. And the In the Country singalong revealed something quite new to me about where music comes from – it’s deep inside anyone. Now I am such a fan, you have no idea.

I am currently in bed sick doing my utmost to recover for tomorrow night’s gig at the Union Chapel which I have been looking forward to for so long. I love your music and it’s one if my very fave venues in London. It’s a quiet one but so beautiful and atmospheric. Hopefully see you tomorrow night and hope you enjoy the gig. Please play Galaxies! :)

So, so sad you aren’t making it to Dublin this time. The last time you played I went with my sister, just a week before she left for the US for good. We sat right up front, and I cried at least twice.

My daughter is now wearing the handprinted t-shirt I bought.

I cannot stop listening to July Flame. It is sublime. Thank you for sharing such gorgeousness with us. :-)

(But please come back to Dublin…sniff…)
